USKUDAR University in Turkey is a member of the Union of Afro-Asian Universities.

Dr. Ashraf Abdel-Rafi Al-Darfeeli, the Executive Director of the Union of Afro-Asia Universities, confirmed that the Union is moving forward with its plan to unite Afro-Asian universities and scientific entities. The goal is to continue the scientific and pioneering role of the Union since its establishment in 2016. Today, we were pleased to sign a memorandum of mutual cooperation between the Union and Uskudar University, which included the university joining the Union of Afro-Asia Universities and partnering to hold conferences, seminars, exchange scientific and academic expertise, provide scholarships for students from the Union’s member universities, as well as joint publication of scientific research and organizing joint scientific competitions.

Al-Darfeeli praised the warm reception and hospitality, expressing his happiness at the inclusion of a prestigious university in the Union, given its significant academic standing both locally and internationally. The university hosts and supports over 4,000 students from Africa and Asia, making it the Turkish university with the largest number of international students. This reflects the university’s international reputation, its advancement in global rankings, and the confidence of students in its educational quality and modern methods.

For his part, Uskudar University President Prof. Nuzhet Turhan expressed his great pleasure at joining the Union of Afro-Asia Universities and the university’s desire to be an active member that achieves the Union’s goals and mission, which aim for scientific and knowledge unity among Afro-Asian universities, away from political, sectarian, or ideological frameworks, focusing on enhancing common human values through scientific and intellectual fields.

He added that an agreement was reached among all parties on the draft project for the economic conference proposed by Prof. Abdul-Majid Al-Makhlafi, as well as the draft project for the media conference proposed by Prof. Abdul-Karim Al-Wazzan, Chairman of the Media Committee of the Union. Both conferences will be held at Uskudar University in collaboration with some international unions and universities inside and outside Turkey, with efforts to form the necessary committees.

The Union of Afro-Asia Universities delegation included Prof. Abdul-Majid Al-Makhlafi, former minister and Board member of the Union, Mr. Saeed Yawaj, President of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Science and Union Board member, and Prof. Ilhami Miraj, Union member and Administrative Coordinator of the Union Office.

Also present from Uskudar University were university leaders and members of the academic staff, including Prof. Mohsen Konuk and several university officials.

At the end of the meeting, the President of Uskudar University presented a commemorative plaque to the Union.
