Mohammed Abdul Aziz: The Union of Afro-Asia Universities aims for the unity of universities.
The Director-General of the London Research Center and General Coordinator of Conferences in the Union of Afro-Asia Universities, Mohammed Abdul Aziz, and Director of the International Scientific Conference “New Media and its Role in Social Security and Economic Development,” emphasized that the Union’s plan for the fourth quarter of 2022 revolves around organizing several international conferences in Morocco, Turkey, Tunisia, and Indonesia. These conferences will begin with two significant events in Morocco focused on media and women’s issues, marking a major shift in addressing new media and women’s concerns in the Middle East.
In a televised interview on Al-Shahid TV, Abdul Aziz announced that the conference would be held in collaboration with Mohammed V University in Rabat, chaired by University President Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Ghashi, from September 5 to 6, 2022. He pointed out that the Union’s conference activities follow a well-structured plan resulting from meetings chaired by former Minister Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mukhtar, President of the Union, with Executive Director Prof. Dr. Ashraf El-Dorfaily and the Chair of the Conference Committee, former Minister Prof. Dr. Nour El-Din Muna. These activities will be supervised and implemented in the coming months under the direct guidance of the Union’s Executive Director.
Regarding the Union of Afro-Asia Universities, Abdul Aziz explained that the Union is an independent international scientific organization founded in 2016 by consensus among 29 universities and institutions. Its primary mission is to build a scientific entity representing unity, integration, and cooperation between universities across the two continents.
The idea originated with a proposal from Prof. Dr. Ashraf El-Dorfaily, President of the Noor Messages Foundation for Education, Culture, and Civilizational Communication in Egypt, and Professor of Doctrine and Philosophy at Al-Azhar University. It was agreed upon with the International Islamic University in Islamabad and other prominent academic institutions in Asia and Africa.
Objectives and Goals:
Abdul Aziz highlighted that the motivation behind establishing the Union was the institutional and collective thinking to build fruitful partnerships between many universities, research institutions, and scientific centers in Africa and Asia. The Union aims to present a comprehensive picture of science and its impact on human life, given the commonalities shared by the two continents in areas like religion, language, history, geography, and cultural heritage.
He added that the belief in the unity between these continents and the shared visions and goals was the driving force behind forming the Union. The Union serves as a foundation for cooperation in scientific and academic fields, contributing to the broader goals of global organizations like ISESCO and UNESCO.
The Union seeks to enhance the scientific, developmental, and humanitarian impact of its universities and academic institutions in their local, national, regional, and international contexts. It aims to achieve its mission according to the highest global standards and empower the self-capabilities of each university.
Media Conference:
Abdul Aziz explained that the upcoming media conference in Morocco, scheduled for September 5 to 7, 2022, will be held in collaboration with Mohammed V University, the London Research Center, the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Science, and the World League of Islamic Literature. The conference’s theme, “New Media and its Role in Social Security and Economic Development,” was chosen due to the significant impact of new media on societal security and economic development. More than 30 scientific abstracts have been submitted so far, with the submission window remaining open until July 7, 2022.
Abdul Aziz praised the active role of the various committees working on the conference, including the media committee chaired by Dr. Magda Mahmoud, the organizing committee led by Dr. Fouad Amlal, and the scientific committee headed by the renowned Iraqi scholar Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzak Al-Dulaimi. These committees have been diligently preparing for the event, ensuring meticulous planning and a clear scientific framework.
In conclusion, Abdul Aziz urged governments to focus on scientific research, emphasizing its importance for societal progress. He also invited researchers worldwide to participate in the Union’s upcoming conferences in Morocco, Turkey, Tunisia, and Indonesia, underscoring the Union’s commitment to fostering international scientific collaboration.
