President of the International Islamic University chairs the international conference on the role of universities in confronting Corona

Dr. Ahmed bin Yousef Al-Darwish, President of the International Islamic University in Islamabad, chaired the virtual international conference entitled: “The Role of Universities and Institutions in Confronting the Corona Crisis – Reality and Solutions”.

Al-Darwish stressed that the conference was held through joint efforts by the International Islamic University in Islamabad, the Union of Afro-Asian Universities, the International Union of Arab Islamic International Schools affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the International Union of Islamic Literature, the University of Darul Islam in Indonesia, the Arab Union for Sustainable Development and Environment, and the Union of Arab Women Leaders.

The conference was attended by the Secretary-General of the Conference, Prof. Dr. Amal Fatahullah Zarkashi, President of the University of Darussalam in Kuntur and Director of the Office of the Union of Afro-Asian Universities in Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Nabi Bakhsh Jumani, an expert in the field of education and a member of the Supreme Advisory Board of the Union of Afro-Asian Universities and Director of the Distance Education Department at the International Islamic University in Islamabad, Dr. Ashraf Abdul Rafi Al-Darfaili, Executive Director of the Union of Afro-Asian Universities and the main host of the conference, Prof. Dr. Navid Aqdas Malik, Vice President of the International Islamic University in Islamabad for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, and other senior officials.

The aim of the conference was to highlight the role of universities and scientific institutions in confronting the Corona crisis. The participants discussed the efforts and steps taken since the outbreak of the Corona virus, and highlighted the efforts of universities and institutions that are members of the Union of Afro-Asian Universities. The speakers discussed various important topics such as the initial procedural steps for universities and institutions to confront this pandemic, preventive measures for employees and students of educational institutions, alternative learning options to continue educational activities, the typical transition from traditional teaching to online teaching, and university strategies regarding their routine work and coordination with their employees and students. About 30 participants from around the world expressed their opinions on the subject at the conference.
